Nepal Seattle Hiking Community (NSHC) is the first and only non-profit in the United States led by local Nepali community leaders that is invested in nurturing the next generation of outdoors
leaders and conservation stewards of Himalayan descent.
Our mission is to connect people with nature through hiking and stewardship to enrich physical, mental and spiritual well being. We achieve that through centering our community’s needs and culture, organizing and leading impactful programs and collaborating with local and state partners.
Four core values that guide our mission are:
Community, Inclusion, Wellbeing and Stewardship.

2. Authentic Nepali hospitality experience: Delicious, family style taste of Nepal made with love, and served to you on the table
3. Symphony of cultural performances to celebrate diverse cultures of Nepal
4. Exclusive Silent Auction on beautiful Nepali handicrafts and artwork
5. Open DJ Dance floor
6. Networking opportunities with fellow nature enthusiasts and like-minded supporters.

NSHC Annual Hike
Nepal Seattle Hiking Community presents our annual hiking event.
Come join us in making memories by the majestic snowcapped view of Mt Rainier! This is a family friendly adventure event and we welcome family and friends of all ages.
The event will start and end at Sunrise Visitor Center in Mt Rainier, WA.
Meeting Location: Sunrise Visitor Center, Mt Rainier

Meeting Time : 8:00 AM
Plan with traffic and parking in mind. The parking lot fills up fast so plan ahead! The hike will start no later than 8:15 am. For those running late, please note that we will wait up to 15 minutes ONLY.

Waiver: You will need to sign waiver for this hike.
Seven Hikes to choose from:
1. Shadow Lake: Easy, 3 miles 200 ft elevation
2. Frozen Lake: Easy, 2.9 miles 557 ft elevation
3. Dege Peak: Easy, 4 miles 600 ft elevation
4. Fremont Lookout: Moderate, 5.7 miles 1118 ft elevation
5. Skyscraper Mountain: Moderate, 7.9 miles 1732 ft elevation
6. Burrows Mountain: Hard, 8.9 miles 2496 ft elevation
7. Grand Park: Hard, 14 miles 3700 ft elevation
Things to bring:
Sturdy hiking boot or shoes (no tennis shoes)
Hiking poles
Weather appropriate clothing
Water (at least 2L) and snacks as appropriate
Extra clothing as appropriate
*National Park Pass is required for this venue.

Earth day work Party
NSCH want to share an awesome opportunity for youths (aged 10-18 years old) who loves the great outdoors and wants to give back to our beautiful planet. NSHC is hosting a work party along with Washington Trails Association on Sun Apr 23, 2023: 9:00 AM — 3:00 PM at the Danville-Georgetown Open Space (DGOS).
Youth volunteers will have the chance to help maintain and improve the trail by performing tasks such as brushing, drainage work, and tread maintenance. Plus, you'll get to spend the day surrounded by gorgeous scenery and meet other like-minded individuals who share your passion for nature.

Youth Age Range: 10-18 years old (Youth under 14 years old must be accompanied by an adult)

IMPORTANT NOTE: A parent or responsible adult is required to accompany the youths. Light refreshments will be provided after the work party, however, participants are encouraged to bring their own lunch and water.

Overnight Youth (6 years plus) Trip at Meany Lodge- The Mountaineers
We are excited to announce to you that we have collaborated with The Mountaineers to organize an overnight stay at their historical Meany Lodge. Meany Lodge is The Mountaineers oldest winter sports resort, located approximately 60 miles east from Seattle off I-90 near Stampede Pass and surrounded by the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. Meany Lodge provides a warm family environment for all - perfect for winter and summer adventures alike. Your children will enjoy a professional guided snowshoe experience during the day time and enjoy the warmth of the lodge at nighttime. We hope to provide an unique experience of community and love for the outdoors to our Nepalese youth through this event.

Salmon Hatchery and Swamp Trail Hiking
We are very happy 😀to announce that with the help of WA-RCO, the Himalayan Youth Outdoors team has decided to take children from age 3-18 years old for an adventure to Salmon Hatchery 🦈in Issaquah followed by a 3-mile round trip on the Swamp Trail. This will help the children to know about salmon and their importance in the ecosystem. This is also another way to increase your bonding with your child.
