Lake Serene & Bridal Veil Falls Hike

On august 7th 2016 our hiking group went to Lake Serene, a great place to hike during the summer. At the beginning of the hike you will enter through a gravel road which leads deeper into the forest. The first 1.6 mile of the hike isn’t very steep and will be mostly be spent in the forest, after which you will find a sign splitting the road into the two different locations.

The left leading to Lake Serene while the right leading to Bridal Veil Falls. To get to Bridal Veil Falls is an additional 0.5 mile, which is steeper than the beginning but will not tire most experienced hikers. However Lake Serene is an additional 2 miles which sounds easy but feels extremely difficult. The trail to Lake Serene was mostly made up of makeshift stairs and lots of switchbacks giving it the feeling of being endless. When our group made the final turn and saw the lake it was astounding. We could have easily left the trail and went to the lake but it’s important to always follow the trial.

At the end of the Lake Serene trail is a giant rock with a great view of the lake and a perfect place to rest before returning.

If you’re only going to Lake Serene then the roundtrip will be the total of 7.6 miles and an additional 1 mile for Bridal Veil Falls. Going to the Falls first would be easier and less taxing on the group when going to both trails. The highest elevation during this hike is 2521 ft, while the lake is 2000 ft.
